On July 17, WildBlue Communications of Greenwood Village, CO, launched a satellite from a site in French Guiana. It will use the satellite to offer broadband Internet access all over the U.S. beginning in about five months.
WildBlue expects to beat its predecessors, DirecWay and Starband, on both speed and price. Downloads at up to 1.5 Mbps, uploads at 256 Kbps, for a minimum $49.95 monthly fee.
