It's going to be easier to cancel AOL

Closing your America Online account got easier after the Internet service provider reached a $3 million agreement with Washington, 47 other states and the District of Columbia over its difficult cancellation policies.

The Dulles, Va., company agreed to make it easier for subscribers to cancel (cancel.aol.com) and to get refunds if they complained about unauthorized charges. More than 35 consumers in the state have filed complaints with the state Attorney General's Office and will receive refunds.

Those who haven't received refunds can file a complaint at atg.wa.gov/FileAComplaint.aspx or by calling 800-551-4636 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday to request a complaint form.
