Avoid serious Wi-Fi faux pas

Wireless networking exploded onto the scene back in 1999 when Steve Jobs of Apple Computer announced the world’s first easy-to-use commercial wireless network for the home: the Apple Airport.

Wireless networks like these now come with popular D-Link and Linksys routers (as well as Apple’s Airports) and are presently in hundreds of thousands of homes across north America as folks everywhere discover the joy of accessing the Internet without having to run cumbersome wiring everywhere.

Wireless networks create the equivalent of an Internet ‘bubble’ that extends from the transmitter as much as 500 feet. That means that if you live in the suburbs your wireless capable computers can probably ‘see’ many nearby networks that your neighbours have set up.
