HughesNet Launches $100 Referral Rewards
Express Press Release (press release) - Las Vegas,NV,USA
HughesNet, the nation’s leading provider of remote broadband satellite network solutions for consumers, businesses and government, today announced the launch of its new “$100 Nationwide Referral Rewards Program.” The program allows current HughesNet customers in good standing to earn $100 for every person they recommend who signs up for a Hughes Net satellite system through Nationwide Satellite. Any current customer with an active account for more than 31 days can qualify for the $100 referral rewards. Rewards are distributed after the new customers have similarly signed up for the system through Nationwide Satellite and have maintained their account for more than 31 days.
The program was developed as a “thank you” to HughesNet’s most valued advertising source – its own customers. They realized that existing HughesNet customers refer many new customers to HughesNet. There is no better way to get the word out about HughesNet than by word of mouth from happy consumers. So, the Nationwide Satellite Referral Rewards Program was developed to encourage and reward current customers for bringing in new business.
With the program in full swing, now there is no need for anyone to remain stuck with slow dial-up access to the internet. Hughes Net is a broadband internet access solution available to anyone, anywhere in the U.S. This includes small towns where cable, fiber or DSL is not available. All that is required for the satellite service to work is a clear view of the southern sky.
Indeed, lack of cable access is still a problem in many smaller, rural areas of America. Western states, such as Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and even Texas have large areas of land where satellite access to the internet is the only practical method other than by telephone.
Customers looking to sway their friends on signing up for HughesNet have plenty of advantages to recommend. HughesNet uses advanced, two-way satellite technology for its web services. The result: Super-fast, always-connected reception. Dialing up, logging on and waiting around are completely eliminated.
HughesNet allows its members to surf the internet at incredibly fast speeds. Speed is vital these days, especially when working from home or managing a small business from anywhere.
Hughes Net offers a variety of advantages:
• Two-way, always-on Internet connection
• Surf and open web pages instantly
• Download large files in minutes, not hours
• Enjoy Internet music and video
• Network to multiple computers
• Plans for Home or Business use from $59.99/mo
• Customers can Get started today for as little as $99 down
• HughesNet is fully compatible with Windows and Macintosh operating systems
• Service available everywhere – especially areas with no cable or DSL service
With high-speed, wireless satellite internet from HughesNet, users are not subject to deciding whether to use the internet or talk on the phone. They can finally do both, and join nearly everyone else in America who appreciate high speed convenience.
Submitting a HughesNet $100 Referral Reward to Nationwide Satellite is easy. The current customer simply fills out the online customer referral form at
Nationwidesatellite.com. Or, a referral form can also be printed out and mailed to Nationwide Satellite.

Wi-Fi-To-Go with MiFi
Put simply, our hats are off to Novatel and Verizon on this one. The MiFi is drop-dead awesome in basically every meaningful way, and we'd be shocked if every top-tier carrier in the world wasn't actively looking into adding it -- or a device very similar to it -- into their lineup. Unless you have a very specific, compelling reason that you require an ExpressCard or a USB stick style modem, the MiFi's simplicity, flexibility, tethering capability, and no-compromise performance make it the way to go for your mobile data needs.

Ikea food strainer makes Directional Wi-Fi antenna
Ikea strainer Wi-Fi antenna
Worth catches more than you think possible with an Ikea strainer.
He says, "It's certainly nothing new as it's been done before, but I'm still kinda proud of it. It involves the Idealisk strainer.
I bought one at the Ikea here in Moscow where I'm studying abroad for the summer. I made a Wi-Fi booster antenna with a USB Wi-Fi adapter.
Parabolic kitchenware is well known to some as not only kitchenware, but also do-it-yourself directional dish antennae with which you can augment weak signals with the use of a receiver of some sort. Equipped with my new Swedish strainer, I used some scotch tape (all tape here, by the way, is simply referred to as "SKOTCH" in Russian) and one of my Prismacolor markers that I don't like to mount my USB wifi receiver"

Hughes to Launch 100 Gbps High Throughput Satellite in 2012
GERMANTOWN, Md., June 16, 2009 -- Hughes Network Systems, the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, today announced that it will launch a next-generation, high throughput satellite in the first quarter 2012 to expand its rapidly growing HughesNet(R) broadband Internet service across North America. Designed to deliver over 100 Gbps throughput, the new Hughes satellite will utilize an enhanced version of the IPoS standard, the world's leading broadband satellite standard approved by ETSI, TIA and ITU.
"This is a very exciting time for Hughes," said Pradman Kaul, chairman and CEO of Hughes. "In a little over a year since successfully launching HughesNet service on SPACEWAY(R) 3, we are once again poised to push the envelope and bring a sophisticated, high throughput satellite to market -- based on cutting-edge industry standards, and with capabilities that position us well into the future as a successful integrated satellite service provider."
Employing a multi-spot beam, bent pipe Ka-band architecture, the new geostationary satellite will provide significant additional capacity for HughesNet service in North America. Its capabilities will augment the successful SPACEWAY 3 satellite system, the world's first with on-board switching and routing, which Hughes put into commercial service in April 2008. Space Systems/Loral has been selected to manufacture the new Hughes satellite, based on its SSL 1300 platform, which has the proven flexibility for a broad range of applications and is expected to provide service for 15 years or more.
"We are very pleased to add Hughes to our list of valued customers," said John Celli, president and chief operating officer of Space Systems/Loral. "Satellites for broadband communications are playing an important role in making high-speed Internet service available throughout the country. Space Systems/Loral is on the leading edge of manufacturing the high power, broadband satellites that enable this type of service."

Novetel Wireless MiFI 2200 Mobile Hotspot
This is so handy if you travel often. Who doesn't want to be surrounded by a vortex of Internet wherever you go?!? But hold your horses if you're about to replace your home Internet connection with this. It could be done, but it depends on your wired lifestyle and how much data you use. Remember: You're going to have to figure out a data plan to go with this, and prices vary depending on the plan and the service provider.

In addition, the company will also introduce new pricing for its Mobile Broadband Connect customers.
Verizon Wireless customers will be able to select from Mobile Broadband month-to-month, one- or two-year plans that include:

* $59.99 monthly access with a 5 GB monthly allowance and 5 cents per megabyte overage (currently, the plan offers 5 GB for $59.99 monthly access and 25 cents per megabyte overage)
Verizon Wireless’ Mobile Broadband DayPass is $15 for 24-hour access when any Mobile Broadband device is purchased at full retail price without a monthly service plan.
Mobile Broadband Connect lets customers use their handsets as modems. Beginning Sunday, Verizon Wireless customers can add Mobile Broadband Connect for $49.99 with any qualifying voice plan. Other Mobile Broadband options include:
* $15 with a Nationwide Email Plan
* $30 with a $29.99 or greater data plan or feature
Each option gives customers 5 GB of data usage, and the overage charge will change from 25 cents to 5 cents per MB over the allowance.
The VZAccess Manager solution from Verizon Wireless gives customers easy connection management and automatic installation on Windows® and Mac systems. The software also allows customers to view Wi-Fi hotspots in their areas.
